Currently, there is an online exhibition of The World in Faces on the United Nations website. It features 30 portraits.
ATTENTION!!! The World in Faces photo exhibitions by Alexander Khimushin are currently on hold.
During 2021–2022, Alexander Khimushin had a large number of exhibitions in different countries. Some of these exhibitions were one-of-a-kind, large-scale, world-class international events hosted by the most reputable organizations, such as the United Nations and UNESCO. While the events were very successful and received a lot of positive feedback, due to the enormous efforts and time commitment required for these exhibitions, Alexander had to put aside his travels and stop his work on The World in Faces photo project for almost two years.
In 2022, Alexander Khimushin, evaluating this situation, made the decision to put all the exhibitions on hold until further notice. Instead, he chose to commit himself to a new chapter of travel and the continuation of work on his The World in Faces photo project for the next few years.
There is no book published yet. Alexander Khimushin decided to keep working on The World in Faces across the globe for the next few years before committing his time and effort to making a book.
Meanwhile, UNESCO has expressed strong interest in this book’s publication. Alexander’s vision is that this book will be a large-format, premium-quality photo book. Alexander is positive that the next few years of his travels will continue to be fruitful and provide even more stunning portraits for this book from many regions of the world.

I am an Indigenous person. I would like Alexander to visit my community and photograph local people for World in Faces. Can he do it?
Dear friend, thank you very much for your interest in The World in Faces photo project. Alexander would love to visit your community. In fact, most of his life, he traveled to meet people like you. Most of the Indigenous communities live in remote and hard-to-reach places. Most of the time, there is a language barrier. Most of the time, authentic traditional clothing is almost impossible to come by. All of the above make Alexander’s mission quite challenging. That is why, in his travels, Alexander has always relied on the local people. If you can assist locally in one way or another, Alexander would greatly appreciate your help.
Please contact Alexander if you want him to photograph your ethnic group and you are able to assist with at least something from the list below:
- Accommodation. It is good if your village has a guesthouse. If not, can you host Alexander at your place?
- Local guide. Do you speak English, and can you help him communicate with locals? Or maybe you know someone else who can do it.
- Transport. Most of the time, Alexander needs some kind of transportation to get around. Do you have a motorbike, car, horse, donkey, camel, or elephant? That would be a great help.
- Traditional clothing. Most of the time, it is the most challenging part. Alexander is always in search of it. Do you know someone who has something really precious and authentic? Can you help Alexander meet them and explain why he needs them?
- Local Heroes. Alexander loves to photograph locals to show the wisdom and beauty of Indigenous cultures. Do you know the people whom he can photograph?
- Assistant/Translator. Every time Alexander photographs someone, he needs help with the equipment and, most importantly, help communicating with a Local Hero. Alexander needs to record an audio interview with a person he takes a photo portrait of.
Yes, you can. The perception of beauty is significantly different from one culture to another. That is why it is so important to show the beauty of the Indigenous People the way they are, not the way Westerners think they should be.
Alexander Khimushin is a world-class master of Indigenous Peoples artistic photo portraiture. Through his portraits, he shows the world the true beauty of Indigenous People and their traditional cultures. Many Indigenous young ladies he photographed for The World in Faces during his travels have since won beauty competitions on regional and national levels because of his photos.
Are you a young Indigenous lady who would like to present her ethnic group in The World in Faces photo project? Why not try? Drop Alexander a line.

I am an artist. I have a great creative idea and would like to collaborate with you. Are you open for it?
You are welcome to propose any collaboration idea directly to Alexander Khimushin. Alexander just loves the most unusual ideas. For example, in 2018, an up-and-coming Italian hair stylist, Gianluca Grechi, sent Alexander a message saying that he was inspired by The World in Faces portraits. Gianluca was asking if it would be OK to create a collection of hairstyles inspired by Alexander’s work. The result was a collection of hairstyles by Gianluca called The Tribe. The collection became a great success. In 2019, Gianluca won the prestigious Italian Hairstylist of the Year award.
Let Alexander know what you have in mind! Let’s do something mind-blowing!

Hi, this is Alexander,
Welcome aboard! As you well know, true happiness comes from within, but the power of financial resources cannot be underestimated in facilitating positive change. By lending your support to this project, you will be instrumental in amplifying the voices of Indigenous Peoples in the highest international discourse.
In these turbulent times of great uncertainty, the traditional cultures of Indigenous Peoples have proven themselves to be a formidable force across the centuries. However, they are quickly fading from existence. It is our duty to protect and honor their cultural heritage, for without it, our world is careening towards self-destruction. We cannot allow this invaluable knowledge to be lost in the chaos of modernity.
The shamans of Siberia have foreseen the fragility of our planet, but there is still time to act. Let us band together and take action to preserve the cultural legacy of Indigenous Peoples before it is too late. The fate of our world hangs in the balance, and it is up to us to honor the wisdom of our ancestors and forge a brighter future for all.
If you’d like to support the project financially, send me a direct message now.
