The International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA) presents ethnographic photographer Alexander Khimushin’s exhibition The World in Faces at Tønder Festival.
Tønder Festival is an annual folk music festival in Tønder, Denmark. It is one of the most prominent festivals for traditional and modern folk music in Europe. Around 2500 volunteers helps create the festival every year.
The program is composed of international artists from all over the world. During the festival, the entire town is influenced by music, and famous and less famous artists are part of a community with the audience on streets and squares. The festival takes place at the festival area, with room for up to 15.000 people.

The World in Faces photo exhibition, arranged in collaboration with the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA), serves as an exceptional catalyst for meaningful discourse among festival attendees regarding the struggles and rights of Indigenous Peoples worldwide. The exhibition venue also features captivating musical performances by Indigenous Peoples, which further enrich the visitors’ cultural experience and deepen their understanding of the diverse and vibrant Indigenous communities. This event not only showcases the beauty of Indigenous traditions and customs but also highlights the need to recognize and respect their rights and preserve their invaluable cultural heritage.
