Marija Pejčinović Burić, the 14th Secretary General of the Council of Europe, opened The World in Faces exhibition at the Council of Europe.

“I thank you Mr. Khimushin for sharing your work with us here at the Council of Europe. I know that this is just part of your wider work on indigenous peoples that has attracted widespread media interest – and been displayed at the United Nations.”

“By giving us just a glimpse into their lives, Mr Khimushin, you remind us not only of the range of human experience, but also to keep in mind how much we don’t know about individuals and communities. And that we must have open minds, open hearts, and a willingness to learn. What is also striking about these pictures is the humanity they capture. All of the subjects look like they have a story to tell, and one that must be heard. They are charming, vibrant, enigmatic. Many of them sport infectious smiles and it is difficult not to mirror them back.”  –  Marija Pejčinović Burić
